8 MW Solar/Wind project

Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, has huge potential for wind energy development, with an estimated generation capacity of over 1000 MW, and Alten Group is harnessing this potential by developing a proprietary hybrid wind and solar farm. The hybrid wind and solar project is being constructed in the Absheron peninsula and has a total output of 8 MW.

To develop this project, we are working closely with the leading Spanish consultancy, MS&F Associates, a company with considerable experience in project management and bespoke project consultation.

The aim of the programme is to showcase Alten Group’s technical knowledge and abilities in alternative energy production to local government and international institutions. The project is designed to prove the viability of long-term investment with support of local government in the alternative energy sector, at the same time attracting external investors to our 100 MW development at the same site.

 

 

Hydro

Hydropower is the most efficient renewable energy source in Azerbaijan. The country has an abundance of small and medium sized lakes, which are perfect for energy generation.

Alten Group is currently developing a 46 MW hydro station in Gabala, on the shores of the Demiraparan Chay Lake. The station comprises 3 generators, which have a capacity of 8, 15 and 23 MW respectively.

The aim of this project is to satisfy the complete energy demands of the Gabala region, making it the first 100% alternative energy sufficient area in the Caucasus region. We are seeking international institutions and organisations that would be interested in sponsoring this landmark project.

 

 

Solar Collectors

Alten Group’s Solar Collectors are perfect for heating water and can be installed in a variety of premises, including hotels, municipal buildings, and residential homes.

We are an official distributer of Beijing Sunda Solar Energy Technology products. Beijing Sunda has developed solar thermal technology for 30 years; designed using German technology, Beijing Sunda’s evacuated tubes, solar collectors and heating systems were developed in partnership with and Daimler-Benz Aerospace, and meet international quality requirements for the following industries:

LED

Alten Group’s LED initiative places the company at the forefront of alternative energy innovation and will contribute significantly to the company’s product range – and to Azerbaijan’s energy security.

LED lighting consumes less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs, making it the perfect solution for public infrastructure programmes, such as lighting public areas and highway networks. Research has shown that energy subscribers can save 70 % on their annual bills if they replace all household electric bulbs with LED lighting.

LED Benefits:

  • The operational life of our LED lamps is at least 50,000 hours – equating to 11 years of average operation. For comparison, a traditional lifespan of an incandescent lamp is approximately 5,000 hours, which is 10 times less.
  • The cost of LED lighting vs. traditional incandescent options can’t be compared. The true cost of the incandescent bulb is the cost of replacement bulbs and the labour expense and time needed to replace them.
  • The key strength of LED lighting is reduced power consumption. When designed properly, an LED circuit will approach 80% efficiency, therefore consumes 5 to 10 times less energy in comparison to traditional lamp with the same outcome.
  • LED lighting is very durable, as they are not damaged under circumstances when a regular incandescent bulb would be broken.
  • The price for out LED lamp starts from just AZN 9 – for both indoor and outdoor lighting.
  • These lamps make alternative energy equipments like solar panels and personal wind turbines more capable and reliable.

 

 

5m³ biogas system

Alten Group’s 5m³ biogas digesters operate in 3 different modes and can produce between 2 and 12m³ of methane gas. Our biogas systems require an initial charge, provided by a special mix comprised of 1300kg of cow manure (1-7 days fresh) and 2700 L of water. The systems require subsequent daily charging with between 200 and 400kg of mix (depending on the mode of operation). Proportions of the manure and water mix are 1:3. The mix is automatically stirred for 10 minutes every hour.

Our biogas reactors are also a great source of clean high-quality fertilizer, which, as the fertilizer mix has completed all chemical transformations, can be easily be applied to, and assimilated by, the land. The fertilizer produced upgrades the soil, raising production capacity by up to 30-160%.

The gas output of the 5m³ biogas digesters containes 67 % methane.

1m³ methane is equivalent to 5758kcal of energy.

Small wind generators

Baku is a city of winds – the word Baku translates into English as ‘Wind-Pounded’ or ‘City of Wind’ – demonstrating the extent of wind generation possibility in the region. Alten Group is perfectly positioned to take advantage of this abundant energy source. We offer small high-quality wind generators which produce electricity from 400 Wt to 100kWt. Our turbines are manufactured by German and Japanese specialists, and can successfully be applied for residential and commerical use, such as telecommunications projects and oil and gas platforms.
